Ebele quit stooging

With great power comes great responsibility - Ben Parker.

I was greatly appalled when I read on the news how the president visited Obasanjo in his Abeokuta home and how the former president gave conditions to welcome Goodluck Jonathan.

Here's an excerpt;

Former President Olusegun Obasanjo and President Goodluck Jonathan met on Monday at Obasanjo's mansion  on Presidential Hilltop Estate, Abeokuta, the Ogun state capital.

Sources close to the Obasanjo home said the General Overseer of the Redeemed Christian Church of God, Pastor Enoch Adeboye and founder of Winners' Chapel, Bishop David Oyedepo, were at the meeting at the instance of the former President as one of conditions given by Obasanjo before any meeting with Jonathan could take place.

- The Nation

Imagine a situation where President Obama seeks to visit George Bush but the former president agrees to welcome him only if T.D Jakes and Joel Osteen are equally present to witness whatever discussions they may have.

Imagine. Just try to imagine because it really is hard to imagine. How can the president of one of the most populous black nation be treated with such impunity? GEJ has demonstrated for the umpteenth time that he is indeed not presidential material.

Before Obasanjo released his book "Author of My Watch" it was reported that Goodluck begged Obasanjo to wait till after elections before he makes the book public. Obasanjo ignored this plea despite the order from the court demanding a hold in the release.

My grouse is not with Obasanjo. He is a normal citizen like you -excluding Jonathan if he accidentally stumbles on this article - or me. My grouse is with the Grand Commander of the Federal Republic of Nigeria. How can you let one man take you for a ride? Have you ever heard in any developed nation that a leader is having trouble with a particular citizen? Let's come down home. Have you ever heard Robert Mugabe or even Obasanjo during his administration complain of one single man? Do you think Obasanjo as a president would let anybody harass him the way he's harassing you right now? Ebele grow some presidential sized balls. You're the most powerful man in the country for crying out loud. Your laid back attitude is the same reason there's so much graft in the country at the moment.

Sometime last year Goodluck sent some governors to Obasanjo  asking him to go easy on his administration after an opprobrious letter - Before It Is Too Late - written by the former governor to Jonathan was published.

There was the news report of Niger delta warlord Tompolo acquiring warships costing billions of Taxpayer's naira. Another man giving the nation a bad image. Some argue that you have friends and you wouldn't want to fall out with them because they made you who you are. There's a popular saying that goes "if you don't stand for something, you'll fall for anything". You do not want to fall for anything Sir, you might sustain countless injuries that will leave the German doctors clueless when they see you.

Mr. President, there's something you should understand. When you eventually leave office, people would recall this administration with bitter memories as one rife with corruption and a smorgasbord of economic and political vices. They wouldn't call Obasanjo and Tompolo or Boko Haram as the cause of anything. They'll say "Jonathan's administration was a messed up one." Why? Because you ruled the nation and had the power to stop these vices but you could not.

Well election is around the corner and while it seems like you're making effort(licking OBJ's foot) to garner support to guarantee success at the polls, you Mr. President are taking giant strides in the wrong direction. Obasanjo is not the only person who is going to cast a vote come February 14(assuming he votes for you), there are One hundred and fifty nine million of us too.

I am not rooting for Buhari. I am not rooting for you either. As the choice of choosing a president between a Goodluck Ebele Jonathan and a General Muhammadu Buhari would be a case of picking the lesser of two evils. But if pressed, I would go with Buhari because we have endured your brand of yeye leadership for seven years. Even if we're not entirely certain Buhari  will be a good leader, we will prefer seeing another brand of yeye leadership than the all too familiar one you have been sharing all these years.
