The Sun Is Also A Star by Nicola Yoon is one of the greatest love story ever written. Below is my review of the book.

 The book is a unique literary piece. Chapterization takes the form of different characters giving their separate account of events as they unfold in the plot. The author equally infuses chapters that help explain some parts of the plot that may seem vague, all in a perfectly successful attempt to carry the reader along.

The Sun Is Also A Star is one amazing love story between two young lovebirds. Daniel and Natasha. It's a beautiful story of fate. The book chronicles the chain of events that builds up to where two unsuspecting millennials meet and fall in love in what I tag the sweetest serendipity story written yet.

NTA's Cyril Stober retires from active service

He needs no introduction at all. Cyril Stober, an ace newscaster on the Nigerian Television Authority (NTA) has been around for decades, pursuing his passion in his chosen career, broadcasting.

Before the advent of private stations in Nigeria, listening to the NTA news at 9 everyday was always a wonderful moment for many families in Nigeria.

Watching Frank Olize, Hon. Abike Dabiri on NTA Newslines and all the stories of what was happening around the country was amazing.
Saturday mornings were also magical with the likes of late Yinka Craig on Morning Ride.

Watching Sienne All Well Brown, Ruth Benemesia Opia, John Momoh and the late Tokunbo Ajayi on NTA news was so intriguing.

Everybody admired the authority and eloquence with which they delivered the news. He's anchored several editions of NTA news and other programmes for years.

How to guess correctly on a multiple choice question

Often, you’ll hear people say that you should “trust your instincts” when making decisions. But are first instincts always the best?

Psychological research has shown many times that no, they are often no better— and in worse cases worse —than a revision or change. Despite enormous popular belief that first instincts are special, dozens of experiments have found that they are not.

Men who attack women online are actual losers

A new study purports to show what we all could have guessed: Men who attack women online are actual losers.

A pair of researchers examined interactions between players during 163 games of Halo 3 to determine when men were most likely to exhibit sexist, anti-social behavior toward their female peers.

According to the study, which was recently published in the journal PLOS One, men who were worse players than their peers tended to hurl more nastiness at female gamers. On the other hand, men who knew their way around the console were nicer to male and female players.

The researchers say the findings support an "evolutionary argument" that low-status men with low dominance have more to lose and are therefore more hostile to women who threaten their status in the social hierarchy.

"As men often rely on aggression to maintain their dominant social status, the increase in hostility towards a woman by lower-status males may be an attempt to disregard a female's performance and suppress her disturbance on the hierarchy to retain their social rank," researchers write.

The findings also support the growing body of anecdotal and research-based evidence that women face harsh blowback when they enter into and thrive in male-dominated corners of the Internet.

As the Washington Post points out, however, the study does not offer any solutions on how to solve the issue.

Previous film polls conducted by other publications or organisations either haven't looked solely at American film or have drawn their poll contributors from within the US film industry, not necessarily relying just on the opinion of critics. Some of the critics we invited to participate are film reviewers at newspapers or magazines, others are broadcasters and some write books.

Each critic who participated submitted a list of 10 films, with their pick for the greatest film receiving 10 points and their number 10 pick receiving one point. The points were added up to produce the final list. Critics were encouraged to submit lists of the 10 films they feel, on an emotional level, are the greatest in American cinema – not necessarily the most important, just the best. These are the results.

How sleep helps your memory

Sleep yourself to a better memory?

Every lifestyle choice has the potential to affect your cognitive abilities and health. In recent years, various researchers have found that a habit that most of us take for granted — sleep — may affect our memory in noticeable ways.

Does sleep help long term memories stick?

In a study published in the June 2011 issue of Science, University of Washington researchers studied the role of sleep in forming long-term memories by using a special breed of fruit flies that could be induced to sleep on demand. First, the male flies studied in this paper were "trained" by being exposed to other, genetically engineered males who released female pheromones. After several courtships and rejections during this training period, some of these flies were then forced to sleep for 4 hours. These sleepers made no further attempts to court the engineered males when exposed to them again — suggesting that sleep had helped form a long-term memory of the earlier deception.

But flies who didn't sleep were tricked once more by the same genetically engineered males. The researchers in this study concluded that training alone was not enough to trigger memory consolidation — sleep was a necessary component. While this study's results don't necessarily carry over to humans, they help cast the role of sleep in a new light.
How lack of sleep could hurt you
Not only may sleep help your memory, but lack of sleep may also hurt your health. A 2010 study from Biological Psychiatry found that chronic insomnia may lead to loss of brain volume. Researchers used fMRI scans to examine the brains of 37 human subjects with and without chronic insomnia. Insomniacs had a smaller volumes of gray matter in three brain areas — and the more serious the insomnia, the greater the loss of volume.

And in 2012, a preliminary study from the Washington University School of Medicine found that in mice, poor sleep may be related to brain plaques associated with Alzheimer's.

The future of sleep studies

The third of our life that we spend sleeping has always been something of a mystery. Now a new wave of studies are finding indications that while we may appear to be in a stupor, our brains are actually hard at work. It may take many more years or decades before we reach definite conclusions about all the many roles that sleep plays, but most scientists agree that getting a decent night's rest is a good idea.
